FAM (Fault Action Management) platform: Greenfield replacement of a legacy telecom fault-handling system. Provides customer/device diagnostics, reactive repairs for call-center operators, deployed on kubernetes.
Decision Engine — platform design & end-to-end ownership
- End-to-end owner of Telekom's event-driven workflow orchestration platform, handling thousands of customer fault-repair requests per hour, initiated by call-center agents while customers wait on the line for their issues to be resolved.
- Designed and built a Kafka request/response correlation mechanism that exposes delayed device operations as awaitable TypeScript calls, making complex Kafka operations as simple as linear code
- Applied deterministic replay for long-running workflows with retries and timers, enabling crash-safe recovery from the last completed operation across restarts and deployments, without relying on in-memory waits.
- Added a TypeScript scripting layer and hot-swappable artifact runtime. Developers can write business rules as scripts, while nontechnical users configure them in a visual UI that generates scripts; artifacts can be replaced without restarting services.
- Integrated LLM-assisted script generation, testing and white-box debugging into the platform.
Core stack: TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL.
Additional engineering contributions | FAM and other projects
- Implemented OIDC authentication across frontend and backend-for-frontend; helped establish type-safe WebSocket parsing and implemented message handlers.
- Developed shared logging infrastructure; configured Grafana metrics, dashboards and alerts; troubleshot production applications, ingress issues, Kubernetes crash loops and persistent storage problems.
- Led certificate rotation before expiry across microservices, GitLab CI/CD and HashiCorp Vault integration, coordinating rollout with the PaaS team and stakeholders.
- Deployed an mTLS-enabled Kafka UI (Kafbat) to Kubernetes and built tooling to compare running Helm releases against their intended GitLab versions.
- Delivered backend APIs and frontend features; introduced Kafka messaging practices including idempotency, delivery semantics and dead-letter queues.
- Earlier work included a Blockly-based visual programming tool and a UI for an Apple entitlement server.
